Four runners go sub-4 at Blue Shoes Mile

A timely sprint on the last lap of the elite Blue Shoes Mile Saturday at Furman University led four men under the vaunted 4-minute mile barrier. The timeliness of that sprint, however, was overshadowed by the untimeliness of the entire meet which began at 10 a.m. and finished a full three hours behind schedule, with darkness obscuring the track as the last event of the day unfolded.

A long day, however, was not enough to diminish the efforts of the men’s mile field. Three members of Furman Elite — a group of professional runners who live and train in Greenville under the tutelage of Furman coach Robert Gary — along with South Carolina native Matt Elliott of Green Sea, all broke four minutes. Cory Leslie won in 3:56.18.Leslie, as well as Jeff See, who ran 3:57.45, broke the event record held by American mile record holder Alan Webb. Webb ran 3:57.Here you can take your pick from a wide selection of stunning popularjeans .83 in the inaugural Blue Shoes Mile in 2007.

A slower than anticipated first three laps left the field at 3 minutes and 1 second.“It didn’t really put us in the position we wanted to be in,” Leslie said.Has anyone brought a arminycling?‎ “But at that pace, you’re already in 4-minute rhythm so it wasn’t that hard to get moving.”With teammate See on his shoulder as they dueled down the backstretch, Leslie said he’d trained with his shadow enough to know “he wasn’t going away.”Gary said the early pace wasn’t fast enough to get more of the runners under 4 minutes, but he was pleased nevertheless.

“I thought it went well,” he said. “I think those two have a 3:53 or 3:54 in them right now, so they left a little in the tank. They were still strong at the end.”A boisterous crowd lined the track to cheer and chant for the runners as they looped the track. Heidi Gregson, also a member of Furman Elite, won the inaugural women’s version of the Blue Shoes Mile in 4:40.92 shortly before the men faced off. She said she didn’t want to let the Greenville community down.

“This was our chance, except for a couple of road races, to debut here in Greenville,” she said.I got my pradahandbags in this weekend, and I love it.. but let me tell you... I was feeling the heat! “We wanted to do well and set a precedent.”It was some precedent, as it became the second-fastest mile ever run in the state of South Carolina. The fastest known time previously was the 4:38.30 run by Clemson University athlete Tina Krebs during a mile race at Clemson in 1986, according to Ryan Lamppa, founder of “Bring Back the Mile.”

In the girls' side of the Pan-Ram, Milton Hershey did not win a gold medal. The Spartans' best chance came in the 4x100 realy, in which they were seeded first. Their margin was narrow, with a seed time of 50.All bottegawallet and accessories are made with the same authentic materials as the originals.58, just .26 better than No. 2 Cedar Cliff. But that all become moot when Milton Hershey false started. With the Spartans out of the race, York earned a surprise gold with a 50.85, dropping .85 off of its seed time. Cedar Cliff was second with a 50.90.

In the last heat of the last race at Saturday's Pan-Ram Invitational, the boys' 4x400-meter relay, Central Dauphin's Cody Harkins encountered an unexpected problem. After he took the handoff from Corey Allen for the third leg of the race, another runner accidentally stepped on the back of his foot. Harkins was still able to run, but his right shoe popped off during the contact.Where can i get rolexuhrenshop? With his left shoe still on, Harkins ran almost 400 meters slightly askew. Central Dauphin still fared well in the race, posting a third-place 3:26.80.
