Sarah Johnston, 28, of Westward near Wigton, is marrying fiance Mark Potts on August 2 at Wetheral after he proposed when they were on holiday in Turkey last October.She said: “Most of the main things are sorted including my dress, the mother-of-the-bride outfit and the reception at the North Lakes Hotel in Penrith.



“But I’ve come to the show because I still need to book my make-up and a few accessories.”It didn’t take her long to get fixed up with make-up artist Aileen Williamson of DreamsDay Spa at Kingstown, Carlisle, who also did the make-up for the catwalk models – six women and two men.Aileen said: “I do anything between 20 and 50 weddings a year and this show is a great way of meeting brides.”She added: “I do make-up for the whole bridal party from flower girls right up to grandmas.”



Danielle Hurt, 24, from High Harrington, has until July 2014 to prepare for her wedding to Daniel Gullen.She said: “I’ve come to have a look at bridesmaids’ dresses, to find a photographer and book entertainment – I’m looking for something different to get people on their feet.“I’ve been to other wedding shows but this is the main one.”



Arguably the most unusual attraction was a sparkly-pink wedding dress made by Thelma Madine of Channel 4’s My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.It was donated by Sean Paul, of Dappadogz Grooming Studio in Workington, to be raffled to raise funds for Matching Partners Canine Rescue.The countryside theme was brought to life by Brenda Dowding of Gardenalia in Heads Nook, who specialises in floral designs and props for weddings.Belle Wedding Boutique, of Botchergate, Carlisle, provided the chair covers while Angel Hair of Stanwix, Carlisle, did the hair for the catwalk models.



Mrs Hopgood said the expo offered a chance for residents to get an insight into everything to do with wedding and events.



"It's a great opportunity to see the businesses this city has on offer, but there will also be demonstrations, fashion shows, competitions, freebies and plenty more," she said.



The expo was previously held at Terrace Gardens but this year's event has been moved to the recently refurbished Mount Isa Golf Club.Across two days, the expo will include a a fashion show, demonstrations and various competitions.Mrs Hopgood said her excitement was building in the lead-up to the event but admitted there was still plenty of work to be done."I am still chasing vendors to be involved in the expo," she said."I'm also currently scouting for models of all shapes, sizes and ages to showcase the wedding dresses, and formal and event wear."



But it's a challenge Mrs Hopgood was looking forward to and there's no doubt the expo would be a success.After all, she knew a thing or two about weddings as the owner of How Inviting Wedding Specialists in Mount Isa.Running her own business came naturally as she enjoyed the customer interaction."It's so important to me to satisfy and help my customers as much as I can," she said."I hope to make my side of my customers wedding or event a positive experience, and do my best to supply them with what they envisaged.All bottegawallet and accessories are made with the same authentic materials as the originals."
