Doctors order Victoria Beckham to attend New York Fashion Week in flats [christian louboutin pump]
it's not just having a bad back that has left Victoria Beckham looking a little de-feeted at the moment...
The woman who once claimed to shun the gym because “she couldn't run in heels”, professed she was “beyond hating” ballet pumps and insisted she “couldn't concentrate” unless clad in six-inch stilettos, is under doctors orders to wear flats.
It means poor Posh – who slipped a disc following the birth of daughter Harper Seven four weeks ago – will have to showcase her hotly anticipated Spring/Summer 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week in comfy footwear that's a far cry from her customary skyscrapers.
Of course, being VB, she's not settling for any old pumps.
I hear the Spice Girl turned designer, 37, has spent the past 72 hours scouring the internet for some suitably fancy flats to wear to next month's event.
And Christian Louboutin and Roger Vivier are the designers tipped to be cushioning her famously bunioned trotters.
Last night a friend of Posh's said: “Victoria's not had an easy past few weeks. But she's a trooper and after getting the all-clear to attend Fashion Week – provided her back doesn't significantly deteriorate – she has been advised to avoid heels.
“Although her heel-wearing wasn't the cause of her back problems, stilettos don't help her condition. Victoria has been frantically surfing the web for an acceptable pair of flats, ones which don't make her look like a golf club.
“She's not relishing the prospect of not wearing heels, but at the moment her main priority is looking after Harper and getting herself fixed.”
Writing in her 2007 style guide, That Extra Half Inch: Hair, Heels and Everything in Between, Posh slated the flat shoe. Describing her feet as “horrid”, she added: “I beyond hate ballerina flats – I can't even walk in them. Unless they're on a ballet dancer, I just don't get it.
“[And] the problem with skinny jeans is that if you wear them with flat shoes, you end up looking like a golf club.”
Last weekend she was treated by a chiropractor before joining husband David and their children – Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and baby Harper – for dinner in Santa Monica.
Unable to even lift Harper, it was left to hubby David to carry their one-month-old into the restaurant.
